Visit Hassan Abdal

Hassan Abdal is famous as land of springs. There are many places all around the town where water comes out of the land naturally. The good thing is in summer the the water of the springs get very cold but in winter it gets warm. And water is so clear that you can see ground and stones in bottom. It is famous saying there that you can find even a needle dropped in this water. I always feel great whenever I enter the town looking at the highway sign board written حسن ابدال. Its an historic town in district Attock Pakistan.  Karakoram Highway starts from right in the middle of the town. Which is also one of the part of Ancient Silk Road which comes straight from China. Hassan Abdal connects Punjab Province and KPK Province. Its situated at the edge of Punjab.

PunjaSahibIt is said that the town is named after the old saint Baba Abdal ( Bawa Walli Qandhari ). The most famous place in the town is Gurdwara Punja Sahib. It is built on the place where Guru Nanak stayed when he came to Hassan Abdal. Its a sacred place for Sikhs and they visit it from all around the world on April 14 every year to celebrate Vaisakhi. Many Sikhs don't wear shoes while rounding in the markets of the town. Gurdwara is located beside a famous hill where Baba Abdal is believed to be stayed. There is Municipality Water Tank on the hill from where you can have nice view of the building of Gurdwara. In the middle of the building there is a spring coming from under a rock. On the rock there is a hand print which is believed hand print of Guru Nanak. There are many fish in the spring look good gathered in front the rock for fresh water. Locals and Sikhs who come to Hassan Abdal climb on the hill. Stairs were cut through the rocks on the hill to reach the top. Some guys take water canes to the hill top loaded on donkeys for the people to drink.

Furthermore there is Tomb of Lala Rukh beside the hill in front of Gurdwara. A spring flows from the bottom of the hill. There is a water pool full of fish with some in orange color. Many people come to visit the tomb daily. There is similar pool outside the tomb fence used to swim in summer by locals. Tomb is also called Tangi locally.

However Cadet College is located at Peshawar road. Behind the walls of Cadet College there is a spring and a stream which comes from Mughal Gardens Wah. On coming towards the railway station at the railway gate post a streets goes towards Neeli. Where there are two springs and a small stream. There is a small stream and several springs at Bafad Road. Moreover right at entering to Bafad there is a stream called Haro. After KSB Pump Colony there is a stream passes under the Karakoram Highway.

On the other hand while coming from the railway station towards the Peshawar road there is a rainwater pond beside the railway track. In winter fog spreads all over the railway track and make it look beautiful. And in winter night, dew spreads every where making the grass look like covered with a thin snow sheet  in the morning. In winter the temperature goes very low making it too cold and dry and summer it goes too high making it very hot. But monsoon brings a lot of rain every year.

Meanwhile Sewage from domestic, commercial, and industrial sources is polluting streams and destroying springs in the town. Attention is required from national authorities.
